What Parents Need To Know About The Process & Their Role In The 504 Team

April 8, 2025 @ 7:00 PM EST

If you're relatively new to 504 meetings, the process can feel overwhelming and stressful, especially when you're trying to engage in something you're not fully familiar with. In this session, Kyle Hill will help you build a greater understanding of 504s and share how you can navigate this challenging process. You will also learn about the best methods to become an active participant in these meetings so that your child can receive the right accommodations which will lead to greater success at school.

Trying to navigate an IEP meeting can be overwhelming. Many parents feel like they have a lack of knowledge about IEPs and their role in the process. This is not surprising, as the majority of parents do not have an extensive background in these individualized plans. In this session, Kyle Hill will help you build a better understanding of the IEP, and discuss the key components that will help you actively participate in these meetings, so that your child can receive the support that is needed for them to have success at school and beyond.

How You Can Partner With IEP/504 Parents So That Your Students Get The Support That They Need To Succeed

As an educator who supports children with IEPs or 504s, you are aware that the process of creating and implementing these plans can be ultra challenging. A key piece to success though, is what educators do to involve the parents in this process. In this session Kyle Hill will discuss strategies that will help you develop strong relationships with families so that you can minimize friction between all of the team members and collaborate together on plans that are reasonable and effective. He will explore strategies for identifying appropriate accommodations for your students and share what you can do to gain parental support for the implementation of the plan.
